Cease striving and discover joy today!

Do you ever have a day that you feel really blessed?  That’s how I feel today!  I’m sitting outside on the deck writing to you from our lovely little Lake House.

Life gets too busy.  Some days I rush from one task to next.  I lose my joy in the frenzy of the urgent.

But this little Lake House restores my body and my spirit!  I step away from my never ending ‘to do list’, appointments and even ministry.

I sit with the warm sun on my back as I gaze out at the lake!  I take deep breaths.  I breathe in God’s peace.  I watch the sun sparkle like diamonds on the water.  It’s ok to just sit and look at the Lake!

The simplicity of life here is so very refreshing.  God knows we all need refreshment and rest.  He tells us to “Cease striving and know that I am God”.  Psalm 46:10 NASB

The wonder of God’s creation strikes me when I just sit and take it in.  The beauty of the flowers and plants that are growing and blooming delights my eyes.  I am in awe of the beauty my God has created.

I go for a walk down my quiet country road.  In the evening I hear the courting calls of spring peepers, little tiny frogs.  It’s one of my favorite spring sounds.

What about you?  How do you cease striving?

A walk

A bubble bath

A good book

A coffee break

A visit with a friend

A day away

A good movie

Playing with your children.

Today’s little step:  Snag some time that’s just for you and everyone in your life will benefit!’  Remember God reminds us to “Cease striving and know that I am God”.
