How am I doing after the iron infusion?
I had my iron infusion on October 11th and I decided to keep a record of any changes.
For the last 10 years I’ve been tired and I attribute it to the craziness of life and poor quality, disruptive sleep. I suffer from Restless Legs Syndrome which makes is hard to fall asleep and stay asleep. I have resigned myself to the fact that poor sleep is just something I will live with. So I am anxious to see if the iron infusion makes a difference in my sleep. I am hopeful!
2nd day – I can feel a difference. You know that feeling after your first cup of coffee in the morning? How that caffeine gives you a bit of a lift? Well, that’s how I feel and I drink decaf. coffee now.
I am not an anxious person but I have a sense of well being and calmness that is noticeable.
But the best thing ever is more restful sleep!
3rd to 5th days – A heightened sense of awareness is what I feel. It seems like I can see clearer and everything seems fresh and bright.
My energy level is better. I am not as short of breath when walking or climbing the stairs.
Two nights of better quality sleep. I slept longer and deeper and woke refreshed.
5th to 10th days – Increased energy, I used to be really tired by about 3 o’clock and need a nap or a snack, but not these days.
Amazing deep, deep sleep! Yipee! Waking refreshed and ready for the day.
I can go for my long walk again and have no shortness of breath.
10th to 13th days – When you are really tired every job seems like its hard work, but I don’t feel like that anymore. I have clarity of thought, I’m interested in tackling big projects and small jobs feel easy again.
I have more endurance for long busy days.
Don says my skin is a healthy pink now and I look vibrant.
My walking pace has picked up with no shortness of breath.
My Restless Leg Syndrome has almost disappeared! My legs are still and calm as I am falling asleep and they aren’t waking me in the night!
My sleep is the best I have had in years. It’s deep, sweet and restorative.
I am so thankful for my iron infusion treatment! I had no idea I could feel this good!
As women it’s so easy to attribute our tiredness and lack of energy to our stage of life. Or like me to an underlying health condition. When we have babies and little kids our sleep is disrupted all the time. Older kids and teenagers coming and going is a different stage of life, it’s crazy busy and it usually brings some late nights and disrupted sleep too. Menopause brings a whole new meaning to disrupted sleep and low energy. We think that being tired all the time is just normal. But it doesn’t have to be.
