Do you need hope and peace during this pandemic?

Do you need hope and peace during this pandemic?

It’s scary to see people reacting with panic, fear and anxiety because of the Coronavirus.  Our world is a crazy place right now. I just felt that I needed to touch base with you my friend. We are all searching for hope and peace and I have some insights to share today.

It’s not surprising that we are reacting to the COVID-19 pandemic with fear and anxiety.  With instant access to the latest update it’s too easy to keep checking our phones.

But that does little to relieve anxiety. Instead it usually adds to it!  That’s not good.

My Pastor challenged us to be informed but not obsessed.  Isn’t that great advice?

I want you to know you can have hope and peace in these uncertain times. God gives me hope and peace.

It’s a normal response to be concerned, especially when there is so much uncertainty.

However, I am certain of these things

I am certain that God loves all of us.

I am certain that our Great God really does have the whole world in His hands.

I am certain that God knows our worries and anxiety.

I am certain He knows.

I am certain He sees.

I am certain that if we pray to God He will hear us.

I am certain that even though I don’t understand how this virus can be a good thing I am certain that God is using it for good.

I am certain He is a trustworthy God.  He has proven Himself so many times in my life, that I know I can trust Him now.

I am certain that because God is control I don’t need to figure out all the possibilities for the future.

I am certain that I can have hope and peace because God will help me with whatever comes my way.

Prayer is the other way I am handling the uncertainty of this pandemic.

I have learned a different way to pray when I am fearful and anxious.  Sarah Young is a devotional author that has really helped me pray in a way that makes problems smaller and God bigger.

I’ve included the amazon link to a 40-day devotional book that is great for these uncertain times.

Sarah writes from her heart, a heart that listens for Jesus’ voice.

On day 20 of the devotional book, she writes as if Jesus is speaking to us.  “When you bring Me (Jesus) your prayer requests, lay out your concerns before me.  Speak to Me candidly; pour out your heart.  Then thank Me for the answers that I have set into motion long before you can discern results.  When your requests come to mind again, continue to thank Me for the answers that are on the way.  If you keep on stating your concerns to Me, you will live in a state of tension.  Thankful prayers keep your focus on My presence.”

It’s so easy to pray and focus on the pandemic and all the possible problems.  But then the focus is on the problems.

Instead when I pray and thank God for how He is at work in this pandemic then my mindset is so much better.  My focus is on God and His power and not on the problems.

I know the worries will still come to mind, but when they do, I am trying to thank God for how He is at work.  I’m not fretting near as much.

I encourage you my friend if you are anxious in these uncertain days to pray with God as the focus!

If you are fearful and anxious and you don’t know God then you need to know He loves you.

You can know Him today!  It is a simple and exciting message.  It is simple but not cheap!  Jesus loves you and He wants to come along side you and help you during these uncertain days.

This is a prayer you can pray right now.

Dear God

I admit that I have done things that are wrong, my sin.  Thank you that you came to earth as God’s perfect sinless Son.  I believe You died on the cross and took the punishment for my sin.  Please forgive me for my sin.  I receive your forgiveness.  I believe You did not stay dead but came to life again and that You beat death.  Thank you that I am now part of your family.  I put my life and my future into Your hands.  I pray You will be at work in my life and guide me until You take me to Heaven to live with You forever.

In Jesus’ name, Amen

If you would like to know more about a life with Jesus I would love to hear from you.

Today’s little step:  Rest and have peace because God’s got the whole world in His hands!

Here are some YouTube videos that teach us about Jesus and living a life with Him.
