Are you struggling with some pandemic pounds? Most of us are. Rest assured my friend there will no silly memes here and there will be no judging, only support and encouragement. We’re in this together.
We’ve never been through a worldwide pandemic before.
Our lives have all changed in so many ways.
Even as the pandemic restrictions are lessened we are still coping as best we can.
But let’s be kind to ourselves!
I know gaining weight is not something we are happy about. But what if the worst thing that happened to us during this pandemic is that we gained weight? Then we are fortunate.
Most of us ate our favourite comfort foods. I know some days a cup of coffee and a sweet treat just helped me cope. How about you? If it’s not a sweet treat then it’s probably salty and crunchy, right?
So what do we do?
We won’t beat ourselves up with nasty self-talk. I call it ‘stinkin thinkin’. That nasty voice inside our heads that only sees the negative. You know her voice and she’s not nice.
Don’t listen to her! She lies!
Replace her lies with words that speak truth and hope!
‘I’ve never been through a pandemic before. I’m still figuring out how to cope.’
‘I’ve gained weight before. It’s no big deal.’
‘I’m looking at all the good things in my life. I have much to be thankful for!’
‘Every day I make healthy choices.’
‘I find a fun way to move everyday.’
When we hear those words often we start to believe them and take action.
Today’s little step: We won’t listen to the ‘stinkin thinkin’ – that nasty voice that lies to us. We will replace those words with truth and hope!
Over the next few weeks we’ll review our little steps to health. Little steps we can take to help us with those pandemic pounds. Little steps we can all take for our body, mind and spirit.
