Hey friends! It’s so easy to get discouraged as we plod along on the path of health and well being. It’s tempting to start another diet.
I’m still struggling with those extra pounds that crept back on.
It’s not fair that weight goes off so slow and comes back on way too fast!
Last week I realized I was falling back into the dieting approach in my thinking.
That’s not good!
A diet approach makes some food good and some food bad.
The diet approach makes me feel deprived.
Feeling deprived is an awful way to live and I can’t keep it up for long.
The other thing that happens to me is I start to think about food way too much.
Can you relate?
It’s ok to remind ourselves that we are not on a diet.
This is a lifestyle!
With a lifestyle we are never on or off something, because it’s our everyday life.
It’s about little choices and changes.
It’s a mix of good days and bad days.
Food fuels our bodies. It is to be savored and enjoyed. We chose foods that are high in nutrients.
When we do overeat or indulge in a poorer choice, (yup it’s part of life) we don’t beat ourselves up.
Or more importantly let that one poor choice lead to a whole day of poor choices. That’s the dieting approach again.
Instead we make the next choice a healthy one. One good choice leads to another.
The lifestyle approach helps us with our attitude about exercise too. It’s not about burning calories!
Instead it’s about moving your body to help it be strong and vibrant.
I hope we have lots of years of life and that we can be active and healthy.
Please embrace the lifestyle approach with me.
Today’s little step: Ditch the diet approach and embrace the lifestyle approach!
Remember every little step you take does make a difference.
