Are you ramping up for September? Are you sad to see summer go? Yes, to both? Me too!
September is always a bit like New Year’s. I think it’s related to school starting and all the fall activities.
September is a great time to start new habits and new routines.
One of the most important habits and routines we can establish is for our spirits. Take a few moments in the morning to be quiet before the busyness of the day.
It may mean you have to get up a little earlier. But it will be worth it!
Let’s call it Quiet Time.
I pair my Quiet Time with breakfast and coffee! While I sit at the table I pray, think, meditate. I think about the day before me and read a few verses from the Bible.
Sometimes I read a few pages from a good book.
There are mornings when it’s really easy to skip my quiet time and hurry to my to-do list.
Often those aren’t my best days. I get easily irritated and fairly self-centered.
I read this today and I just had to write it here for you to read too.
“Demonstrate your trust in God by sitting quietly in His presence.
Put aside all that is waiting to be done, and refuse to worry about anything.
This sacred time with God strengthens you and prepares you to face whatever the day will bring.
By waiting with God before you begin the day’s activities, you proclaim the reality of God’s living presence.
This act of faith – waiting before working – is the most effective way to resist evil.
Doing countless unnecessary activities will dissipate your energy.
When you spend time with God He will restore your sense of direction.
As you look for guidance, God will enable you to do less but accomplish more.”
Today’s little step: Start your day with some Quiet Time for your spirit. You won’t be sorry you did! It can be part of your new fall routine.
Remember every little step you take to be healthy makes a difference!
