Your health and well-being are really about you as an individual and what your body needs.
You can be just like Goldilocks and find out what is ‘just right’ for you. Last week I shared some of the things I discovered on my Goldilocks experiment.
Today I’m sharing a few more things and maybe then you will have some ideas as you search for what is just right for you?
Strength training is also just right for me. I want to be strong. I want to easily lift my grandchildren.
I don’t want to age prematurely and get frail. Strength training 2 times a week is just right for me. I found a great resource in Debra Atkinson and I purchased her on-line strength training videos and downloaded them to my computer. She taught me proper form and technique.
I have been doing her videos and I have muscle definition in my arms and shoulders.
For my 61st birthday this year I received 15-pound dumbbells as my 10 pound ones were too light!
What about you? Have you included any strength training into your week? It will change your resting metabolism and also give you strength and tone.
I hope to do a blog post on the benefits of strength training. But if you need incentive then read this blog post by Debra Atkinson.
Dark chocolate for dessert after dinner is just right for me. I grew up having dessert after dinner every night. It’s a hard habit to change. I still want something sweet to finish the meal. A few squares of healthy dark chocolate satisfies that craving.
Sweet treats on the weekend are just right for me. I make sure they are worth every calorie. My treats are always a 10! I look forward to them and savor every bite. I don’t feel guilty either. Sweet treats are part of my lifestyle.
How about you? Do you struggle with cravings for something sweet? Can you experiment and find a healthy choice? Remember it’s ok to include treats in your healthy lifestyle.
Stretches for flexibility are just right for me. I’m a little stiff in the morning. I also notice it when I get out of the truck after an hour or two. Hmm don’t want to walk like an old woman!
So I have added stretches to my bedtime routine. While watching TV I have a group of stretches that I do that were recommended by a physiotherapist.
I also do some neck stretches while I wait for something to reheat in the microwave. Because we know that habit stacking works.
What about you? Do you need to add some stretches to your day too?
So there you have it, the results of my Goldilocks experiment . I hope this encourages you try a few new things this week.
Today’s little step to health: Be Goldilocks. Conduct your own experiments and find out what is just right for you!
Remember every little step makes a difference!
